What then are we to say about these things? – Romans 8:31

God who cried pain
into the universe from the cross
and who,
after breaking yourself apart
at the very beginning of time
pealed to the heavens, "I AM,"
and who,
after finishing the early work of creation
declared, "It is good!"
make the words in our mouths
so we may say
something
about these things
that make heaven on earth
...intricate and awkward and grim.
