A note pasted in my journal from twenty years ago…

My name is Diane and I am judging the National Society of Arts and Letters competition tomorrow (1/28/2024). I took some time to read about the memorial scholarships and one is named for your daughter. My heart is sad for your loss and you will be in my thoughts as her scholarship is awarded.
Way back in 1990 my then 27 year old sister who was in her first year of residency as an OB/GYN physician attempted suicide. I was 25 and attending Butler University getting my MA in Dance. My sister was not successful in her attempt, but it was a career ending and major life altering event. She now has a traumatic brain injury and still has multiple mental health issues. I miss the sister I grew up with and our family no longer has a relationship with her as she is very angry. She is a ward of the state of Connecticut.
I say all this so you will know that your daughter lives on through this scholarship. Again, I am so sorry.
Diane
